Two Arctic airports to be modernized for almost $5 million

For the purpose of developing the Murmansk regional infrastructure, the local authorities announced reconstruction of its two airports, TASS reports on Monday.




The activities will be carried out within the framework of a project envisaging the creation of a logistic hub in the area. The Murmansk regional government pay a special attention to the reconstruction work conducted at the international airport in Murmansk, the main city of the region.

The upgrade of the facility will be funded both by the Russian government and private businesses. Investments of the airport’s owner will amount to approximately $4.9 million and are planned to be made over the course of 5 years.

Another airport located in the city of Apatity is expected to be modernized in the period between 2017-2020.
