Rosatom determines starting date of building Akkuyu NPP in Turkey

Construction activities at a site of priority facilities of the Turkish Akkuyu NPP, carried out with the participation of Russia, will begin this summer and are planned to be completed within two years.




According to the press office of Rosatom Nuclear State Energy Corporation, a joint stock company for electric power generation of Akkuyu NPP has already ordered the execution of services related to the approval of a project for excavation of pits intended for power units №1, 2 of the future nuclear power station.

Thus, by July, all permits are planned to be obtained and the topography arrangement will have to be launched.

We should remind you that Akkuyu NPP project includes the construction and installation of four power units with Russian VVER-type reactors of generation 3+, with a capacity of 1200 MW. The project is estimated at approximately $20 billion. The first power unit of NPP is expected to be put in operation in 2023.
