The Auchan hypermarket chain has started on the construction of a large meat processing plant in the Tambov region in the framework of the so-called ‘filieres’ project.
As Construction.ru was told by the regional press office, filieres are full-range production enterprises: they deal with everything from breeding cattle to delivering meat to the shops. In such a program, a retailer can expand his range of quality products and small and medium-sized businesses have the opportunity to cooperate with a large trading network.
As Auchan Russia CEO, Wilhelm Hübner, said at the opening ceremony for construction work at the site, the implementation of the process will allow for a decrease in prices for meat in Auchan’s shops. The construction is to be completed by November, 2016. The total investment in the butchering room, with a capacity of 40,000 tons a year, is 2.5bln rubles. By 2020 it will have increased to 70,000 tons a year.
They will then build a large food store in the Moscow region. Auchan representatives have also signed an agreement of intent with the local company “Tambov-Agroinvest”, which will construct a slaughterhouse for 329m rubles.
