Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation will be engaged in construction of new nuclear power plants in China, says the company’s statement released after the meeting between Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, and his colleague from China, Li Keqiang.

“A number of power units are planned to be constructed on new sites in China,” the statement reads.

Russia and China have been rapidly developing their collaboration in the nuclear area. With the participation of Russian technicians, the first and the second energy units have been built in China at Tianwan NPP. At present, construction of the facility’s phase two is underway with the third and the fourth VVER-1000 power units.

Apart from that, Russia and China also agreed to develop cooperation on the projects of floating NPPs and fast-neutron reactors. These reactors relate to the fourth-generation technology.
