On the 28th of March, the RF Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoigu, arrived in the Kaliningrad region to inspect the construction of the military force infrastructure and the organisation of the army’s battle training.
As Construction.ru was told by the press office of the Ministry, in the second half of the day Sergey Shoigu was to head for the construction site of the Chkalovsk military airfield, where a large-scale reconstruction of the entire infrastructure is underway.
As a result of this work, one more universal airfield will be available in the west of Russia, where Russian pilots will be able to cope with any task relating to the country’s defense against a potential aggressor.
The Minister will also hear reports from commanders of the Western military district and the Baltic fleet regarding the commissioning of the infrastructure facilities of the military camps and polygons.
To remind you, the head of the Ministry has repeatedly indicated an “unprecedented” surge in activity by US and NATO military force in Eastern Europe. This requires a reinforcement of military contingents in the Kaliningrad region and other areas of the Western military district.
