Executive Director of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Andrey Kobolev, and the Energy Minister of the USA, Rick Perry, discussed the possible supply of coal to Ukraine, the press office of Naftogaz reports on Wednesday.
“In terms of strengthening energy security of Ukraine, the parties also discussed the possibility of coal exports from the USA to Ukraine”, - the message reads.
It is noted that Rick Perry has expressed interest that the Energy Ministry contributed to the cooperation between American and Ukrainian energy companies for exploration, production and transportation of natural gas and coal supply.
On April 19, the Minister of Coal Industry of Ukraine, Igor Nasalik, announced that the country was considering purchasing from the USA of about 4 million tones of anthracite coal on an annual basis.
According to the report, Perry once again reiterated that he opposed the construction of Nord Sream-2 pipeline implemented by Russia.
