Iran has made an offer to 29 international companies to take part in a tender for the development of Azadegan oil field located near Iraqi border.
Among the foreign companies that have been invited to take part in a tender, there is the Russian oil corporation Lukoil. Also, the offer was made to Shell, Total, CNPC, Sinioc, Petramina and OMV, according to Iranian news Agency Tasnim, citing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Ali Cardura.
The date of the tender has not been reported yet, however, according to Mr. Cardura, it is planned to be held until the 2nd of June.
The Azadegan oil field is the third largest oil deposits in the world, it is assumed that the field contains 37 million barrels of oil. A part of the deposit, known as the South Azadegan is situated in Iraq.
