NEDO, Japanese company, under the agreement with the Russian region of Yakutia, will implement in 2018 a project for renewable energy in the Arctic village of Tiksi.

Three wind turbines will be installed there, the first Deputy Chairman of the government of Yakutia, Alexey Kolodeznikov, told reporters on Thursday.

“Next year we will begin the installation of wind turbines. The equipment is fully Japanese,” he said.

According to director of the Development Department at NEDO, Eiichi Homma, after a tender scheduled for August, a winner will conduct a feasibility study of the project and will then proceed to its implementation.

“We already have an experience in the Far East of Russia, namely, in the village of Ust-Kamchatsk of the Kamchatka region, there are three Japanese wind turbine. But unlike the Kamchatka project, an energy accumulation system will be additionally applied in Tiksi,” the company’s representative specified.
