US President Donald Trump tried to convince the German Chancellor Angela Merkel to abandon the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, according to the Wall Street Journal.
According to sources in the US, German and EU governments, last month, Donald Trump met with Angela Merkel and insisted that Berlin should stop supporting the Nord Stream 2 project. In return, the USA was ready to invite the EU to discuss new trade arrangements that would help avoid a “transatlantic trade war”.
We should remind you that Nord Stream 2 is a project for a gas pipeline running from Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea with a length of 1220 km and a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year.
