U.S. President Donald Trump has said that he plans to ask Congress for an increase in financing of the wall construction on the border with Mexico, CNBC reported on Wednesday.
The President claims that such measure is needed to speed up the project implementation. Earlier, Donald Trump said that he would shut down the government in autumn in case the lawmakers did not endorse his proposal to increase spending on the wall construction.
“It stops the drugs, it stops the people that we don't want to have”, the President added when meeting with Republican Congress members. As Trump put it, at present, the USA is spending $1.6 billion while the new initiative envisages allocating another $1.6 billion.
As a reference, Trump’s controversial plan to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border has come under criticism both inside and outside the country.
