Borrowers from Sberbank are being offered the chance to convert a currency mortgage in rubles at the current rate of the Central Bank, 12% per annum, on a subsidized mortgage with the possibility of restructuring payments for a period of up to 30 years, the head of Sberbank, German Gref, has said.
He assured borrowers that his bankers are ready to discuss exceptions to the rules for those now having difficulty with mortgage payments. Sberbank now has about 3 thousand credits on currency mortgages and the majority are serviced in the normal way. So far the bank has addresses only from only 80 borrowers.
We remind you that the authorities of the Russian Federation adopted the law for preferential mortgages. This year, 20 billion rubles have been allocated to banks to subsidize the rates on mortgage loans that are no higher than 12% per annum.
