Ukraine will lose $2 bln of income from gas transit annually after the construction of North Stream-2.
The Ukranian Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, told journalists about this in Slovakia. According to him, the exclusion of Ukraine from transit deliveries to the EU is not fair. That’s why the North Stream-2 project won’t be advantageous to Europe, as it threatens gas deliveries to Eastern Europe.
To remind you, on September 4th “Gazprom” signed an agreement on the construction of the third and fourth lines of the North Stream at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. The consortium includes “Gazprom”, E.ON, BASF/Wintershall, OMV, Engie and Shell. The new line will allow the annual export of 55 bln m3 of gas to Western Europe and will divert gas transit around Ukraine after 2019.
