According to Euromoney magazine, Elvira Nabiullina was Central Bank Governor of the Year in 2015.
The magazine appreciated her effort in the struggle against the “macroeconomic storm” taking hold of the Russian economy. In such conditions, the head of the RF central bank provided a reasonable policy.
In this period, with western sanctions toughening and oil prices dropping, Nabiullina and her team made every effort to stabilize the currency market by increasing rates and took measures to strengthen the ruble rate. These and other measures enhanced the trust of foreign investors, Euromoney states.
