EU Council approves visa-free regime for Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko said that the Council of the European Union had approved a decision on granting a visa-free regime to Ukrainian citizens.




“Yes! We did it! The EU Council of Ministers has just approved the final decision on granting us, the citizens of Ukraine, the right for a visa-free entry”, the President wrote on his page in Twitter.

The corresponding law will be signed on the 17th of May in Strasbourg, according to the website of Ukrainian President. After that, the document will be published in the EU official journal, and it will come into force 20 days after the date of publication.

Citizens of Ukraine will be able to visit the EU without a visa in case they have biometric passports. They will be able to come to the EU for the period of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
