Fast neutron nuclear reactors, which are being actively developed in the world, will help to make nuclear energy a truly renewable and safe resource, the director general of Rosatom Atomic Energy State Corporation, Alexey Likhachev, said on Monday at FR17 nuclear energy international conference in Yekaterinburg.
“The future of global nuclear energy is inexorably associated with the nuclear fuel cycle closure, integral part of which is a technology of fast neutron reactors. This suggests that in the foreseeable future, global nuclear power will become a truly renewable source of energy based on radiation-equivalent treatment of fissile materials,” – Alexey Likhachev said.
According to him, it is no coincidence that this event, which has become the largest on the subject, is held in Russia.
“As it is known, Rosatom is one of the world’s leaders in the development of a fast neutron reactor’s technology,” he added.
