Head of the NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Andrey Kobelev called the project Nord Stream 2 a geopolitical tool aimed at splitting the European Union, the company’s press office said on Friday.
“Nord Stream 2 is not a completed deal yet. It is not a commercial project. It is a political and geopolitical tool to split the EU. We all need a plan B,” Mr. Kobelev said, speaking at a conference titled “The Role Of Ukraine As The EU Strategic Energy Partner” in Brussels.
The project Northern Stream 2 involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters from the seaboard of Russia through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The new pipeline is planned to be built next to Nord Stream.
