According to Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov, the truck traffic along the 19-kilometer bridge across the Kerch Strait will be launched this year.
Mr. Sokolov has specified that this will happen in October 2018, after the summer season is over. The minister has stressed that the Crimean bridge, the construction of which was started two years ago, is planned to be put in operation 6 months ahead of schedule. By the beginning of summer, when the holiday season starts, cars and buses will be able to use this passage.
He also noted that the authorities will do whatever is needed to ensure comfortable trips to the Crimea for people who go on vacation in a car or by bus. The minister has also stressed that the safety of transport is fully ensured on the Crimean bridge.
