A joint Bangladesh-India venture will engage in building a railroad that will connect the first nuclear power plant under construction in Rooppur to the country’s largest railway junction.

As the Chinese official news agency Xinhua reported on July 10, an agreement on the construction of a 26.5-kilometer railway was signed on Tuesday between the Bangladesh Railway and a new joint venture. The transaction is estimated at approximately $35.42 million.

In November last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched the building activities at the site of the first nuclear power plant in Bangladesh, which is located 216 kilometers west of the capital city of Dhaka. As Xinhua notes, Russia provides financial, technical and technological support to the project through Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation.
