Rosatom receives permission to build nuclear power station by Ganges River

As specified in the general contract, Rosatom, the regulatory body of the Russian nuclear complex, will build a nuclear power station on the coast of the Ganges River in Bangladesh. The facility is planned to be located 160 km from the country's capital, Dhaka, and will be constructed under Russian project leadership.




The work at two construction sites of the “Ruppur” power station's two energy units are scheduled to be completed by 2022 and 2023 respectively, the press office of “Rosenergoatom” company told Construction.ru. The capacity of both energy units will amount to 1200 MW.

According to the data provided by the Western media, the contract costs total $12.65 bln. The work is to be carried out pursuant to the intergovernmental Russia-Bangladesh cooperation agreement dated 2011.
