The Azerbaijani investor plans to build a logistics center in the Smolensk region, Russia, said the region's governor Alexey Ostrovsky.

“In the near future, I plan to visit Azerbaijan in order to familiarize with the operation of an effective logistics center located in the Shamkir agricultural park. The investor who built this facility is considering the construction of a similar center in our region. The regional administration and I personally render maximum assistance to him. Negotiations have been held not only with the investor but with the Azerbaijani authorities as well”, Mr. Ostrovsky said in an interview with Face to the Region TV programme.

The governor stressed that he discussed the issue at a meeting with the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia.

As a reference, the Shamkir agro park is the first agricultural project of this format in the South Caucasus. The total area of the facility amounts to 604 hectares. The object also includes a logistics center designed for 24,000 tons.
