By 2020 in the Moscow area, a system of addressing the issue of solid municipal waste (SMW), which will reduce burial volumes by 80% in the region, will be created.

The corresponding agreement in the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was signed today by the governor of the Greater Moscow Area, Andrey Vorobyov, the CEO of Rostec Group, Sergey Chemezov, and the CEO of Hitachi, Zosen Inova Franz-Josef Mengede. The system assumes a full cycle of sorting, thermal processing and recycling of the parts of waste useful in road construction.

The agreement also includes the planned construction of plants for thermal processing of waste into thermal energy and electricity. Total investment in the project will reach 400 billion rubles.
