The deal on the movement of 5m tons of garbage from Lebanon to Krasnodarsky Krai has been reached through the mediation of an ex-Senator, Igor Kamensky, who is currently working for multimillionaire Mikhail Prokhorov.
The Lebanese media has reported that Lebanon’s government has already allotted $50m for the dispatch to Russia of 5m tons of waste, which has been accumulating for 6 months in the country’s capital, Beirut.
According to LifeNews, the total transaction is $1 bln. A former head of the Federal Agency for Nature Management, Oleg Mitvol, said that he was aware of the deal and called it an absolute disgrace. He believes that it will cause significant damage to the ecology of one of the country’s main health resorts.
