One of the Vostochny Cosmodrome builders has been hit with a big fine for illegal sand extraction.
As Construction.ru was told by the press office of the regional government, a subsidiary of the Head Department for Road and Airfields Construction at the Federal Agency for Special Construction was fined 104m roubles.
As it turned out, the contractor’s deeds have inflicted damage on the environment. At present, the court has ruled to claim compensation from the company.
In September, 2013 the Prosecutor’s Office of the Cosmodrome and the Ministry of Natural Resources revealed that the contractor had exploited the land without having a license for such activity. The area of deteriorated land amounts to over 6 km2.
Following the audit, a case of administrative violation was initiated and the 1m rouble fine was imposed.
