On the territory of the Republic of Crimea, the construction of a mosque has started with the participation of Russian contractors.
As the vice premier minister of the Crimean government, Ruslan Balbek, told RIA Novosti on Friday, the site is scheduled to be commissioned in 2019.
Previously, the Turkish "Erbek" construction company was engaged in the construction work. However, it lost the contract after the Turkish jet downed the Russian SU-24 jet in Syria in autumn.
The construction of the mosque has been renewed as of the 1st of April with the participation of a number of Russian contractors. The project has already been agreed upon, and the expert analysis and permit for the first order of construction has been received.
The object's commissioning is scheduled for 2019. Until then, the biggest mosque in Crimea will be in Simferopol.
