On the 7th of April, the head of the Construction, Utilities and Housing Ministry of Russia, Mikhail Menn, and the Minister of Urban Development of Armenia, Narek Sargsyan, signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of construction, architecture, housing and utility services.
The Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, who was on a visit to Yerevan, and the head of the Armenian government, Hovik Abrahamyan, attended the signing ceremony.
According to Mikhail Menn, the agreement will create a legal base for the effective exchange of experience and coordinated decisions, industrial integration and the formation of a common economic space for Russia and Armenia.
“For the second year running, Russia and Armenia, together with Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kirghizia, are in the Eurasian Economic Union. Taking into consideration the integration processes between our countries, the formation of common approaches and standards in urban development, housing policy, and housing and utility services takes on a special significance”, Mr Menn said.
At the same time, the Minister stressed that approval of a project on the Eurasian Economic Union’s technical regulations, entitled “Regarding the security of buildings and facilities, construction materials and products”, is one of the most crucial issues at this stage.
