An advanced interregional Center for Winter Sports Development soon will be constructed in the Irkutsk region, governor Sergey Levchenko told reporters after a session of the Sports Development Council.
According to Mr Levchenko, a number of interregional centers intended to contribute to winter sports development are to be built in Russia. One of them will be located in the Irkutsk region.
The best sportsmen in the Trans-Baikal region and the Russian Far East will be trained at this center. This year, all of the procedures regarding design and estimated documentation will be settled, and the required agreements are underway.
It should be mentioned that the RF Transport Ministry and the government of the Irkutsk region have concluded an agreement to build a regional speed-skating, short track and ball hockey center in Irkutsk. The parties have also decided to conduct a full reconstruction of the “Trud” stadium.
