Incirlik Air Base located in Turkey might be used by Russia to carry out airstrikes to fight ISIS (the organization is prohibited on the territory of Russia), Bloomberg reports.
This is what Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said on Sunday, following normalization of relations between two countries.
“Why shouldn’t we also cooperate on this with Russia?”, added Cavusoglu.
Russian President’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, responded on a Monday conference that the proposal will be considered by Moscow.
As a reference, the relations between Russia and Turkey have deteriorated, when Turkish air forced downed a Russian jet carrying out a flight to Syria. In response, Russian imposed a number of restrictions affecting Turkey’s economy.
