Cows & Cо, a British company with farms in Scotland, has reached an agreement with the government of the Leningrad region to set up a plant producing semi-hard cheese, Kommersant reports citing the press office of the Committee for Agricultural, Industrial and Fishing Complex of the region.

When the plant is put into operation, it will produce 100 tons of cheese, as a result, an overall index in the Leningrad region will exceed 500 tons per year. A volume of investments in construction of a new facility is estimated at 35 bln roubles.

At the first stage, Cows & Cо plans to establish a plant producing cheese on a basis of the existing enterprises of the Leningrad region. When the products enter the market and if they are in demand, the company will consider construction of its own cheese-making factory and milk farm.
