Applying Hyperloop technologies, a new way to move people, would allow to cut the travel time between Mumbai and Pune from three hours to 25 minutes, The Business Standard reports on Wednesday.
The corresponding offer was made by Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, an American research company, to Indian Transport Ministry, asking for land to implement a pilot project.
According to Hyperloop concept, considered to become the future of high-speed passenger and freight transportation, envisages a pod-like vehicle traveling through a near-vacuum that's contained within a tube.
Bipop Gresta, Chairman and chief operating officer of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, has already held a meeting with the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on this issue.
