In spring of 2017, Russia and Norway are going to sign an agreement on conducting a geological exploration in the former disputed zone located in the shelf area of the Barents Sea and in the Arctic ocean, the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, Sergey Donskoy, told reporters on Wednesday.

“We plan, maybe through diplomatic channels, to sign somewhere in April an agreement on exchange of information and carrying out geological exploration in the former disputed “gray” zone. All the interests have been defined, and the key task is to sign the agreement,” he said.

According to the Minister, Russia hopes that in spring 2017, for the first time since 2014, a joint work of the intergovernmental commission will be restored and its first meeting will be held.
