Chinese company strives for building tunnel in Georgia

China Railway 23rd Bureau Group, a Chinese company, has applied for the participation in a tender for construction of 1200-meter tunnel in Dariali Gorge in Georgia, as it follows from the report of the Highways Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.




The second candidate was Peri LLC. The tender Committee will examine the technical and financial proposals of the companies, and then the winner will be announced, with which a contract will be signed.

The winner of the tender has to build the tunnel and access roads to it in a year from the date of the contract signing. The estimated cost of the project, including VAT, is established in the amount of 59.8 million lari (about $24.4 million at the current exchange rate).
