Basic survey and design works on 63 railway bridges on the Sakhalin Island, in Russian Far East, which need modernization within the spiking of Island’s railway into a network-wide standard, are completed.

This statement made the press office of the regional Far Eastern branch of the Russian Railways. To accomplish this, five specialists from project institutes of the Russian cities of St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Khabarovsk have been working on the Island since the beginning of the year.

“New bridges (it is planned to build 63 bridges) will replace the artificial structures built before year 1945 in the two most important areas of the island highway: Shakhta – Ilyinsk (13 bridges) and Korsakov – Nogliki (50 bridges),” the message reads.
