The project for restoration of 54-km railway running from Khasan (the Russian Federation) to the port of Rajin (DPRK), which was announced by Russia, South Korea and the DPRK, remains relevant.

This is what Russian ambassador to South Korea, Alexander Timonin, told Russia 24 TV channel on Thursday.

“I think the Khasan – Rajin project is still relevant, because it is a mutually beneficial one that opens up a possibility of peaceful solutions, for the mending of inter-Korean relations”, - Alexander Timonin said.

The ambassador noted that statements made by the President-elect of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, about his readiness for the development of relations with Pyongyang “open up opportunities for cooperation in tripartite projects.”

“These projects are of great interest to our South Korean partners, and they are equally beneficial for representatives of the DPRK,” – the diplomat added.
