Rosneft, a Russian oil company, and Italian Eni will start joint drilling in the Black sea in the second half of the summer, the Russian company’s CEO Igor Sechin told reporters on Wednesday.

“In the second half of the summer, jointly with Eni, we will start drilling in the Black Sea shelf – at the Western Black Sea section. A special exploration platform has already been chartered,” he said.

As a reference, Eni is one of the strategic partners of Rosneft in the development of the Russian continental shelf, particularly that of the Barents and Black seas.

In 2013, Rosneft and Eni S. p.A. signed an agreement on the completion of transactions on the Russian continental shelf.
