Egypt and Russia has reached the final stages of the preparation for signing a comprehensive contract for construction of Egypt’s first nuclear power plant El-Dabaa, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt, Mohamed Shaker, said.
“There are no delays in negotiating and signing, but the contracts are complicated, negotiations and a careful inspection of each item of the four contracts are required to serve the interests of Egypt. We resorted to services of specialized international consulting bureau… We are at the final stage (of the preparation – editor’s note) for signing,” Sada al-Balad newspaper quotes the Minister.
He denied Egyptian media reports that “some items of the contracts did not meet the interests of Egypt.”
“On the contrary, there is no items that violate the interests of Egypt, especially in respect of the loan... and spent fuel”, Mohamed Shaker explained.
