A reactor at Doel nuclear power plant in Belgium has shut down, according to Het Nieuwsblad, which cites a representative of the NPP’s operator Engie Electrabel.
The incident occurred on the 23rd of May, at 23:15. The reason for the shutdown was the problem with a steam valve in a non-nuclear part of the reactor.
“The whole security system has worked fine,” – a spokesman for Engie Electrabel said.
It is noted that the reactor can be restarted in the evening of the 24th of May.
As a reference, the Doel nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Scheldt, in the Flemish province of East Flanders.
