The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called “Russophobic” plans of the Lithuanian authorities to build defensive structures on the border with the Kaliningrad region, Russia.

“It is encouraging that, despite the outright Russophobic actions of these countries (Lithuania and Poland, — editor’s note), the local authorities neighboring with the Kaliningrad region, see an interest on the part of their residents to continue to communicate,” Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting with acting Governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov.

“Not to build walls, as the Lithuanians are going to do, or not to interrupt cross-border communication, as the Polish government has done,” the Minister stressed.

According to Mr. Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Ministry will take steps to ensure that “cross-border contacts between people who live "across the street", next to each other, are not affected by the political situation”.
