Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (the Parliament) of Ukraine, Andrey Parubiy, defined Nord Stream 2 pipeline project a “military threat,” speaking at a press conference, Rambler News reports on Tuesday.

“At present, we are working to repel the modern Russian energy weapon. Not only economically and politically, but also military dangerous Nord Stream 2. It is not an exaggeration,” Mr. Parubiy stressed.

“Russia will not restrain itself from a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, when the presence of gas transportation systems, through which Russia supplies gas to the Western European market, in our territory is not so important,” he added.

The speaker believes that due to this project Russia will receive additional funds, “which can be directed to the strengthening of aggressive military actions in Syria and Ukraine.”
