“Start of construction of Kafireas will mark a new stage in the development of Enel's presence in Greece, where the company already has ten years of experience in the field of renewable energy sources”, the head of Enel Green Power, Antonio Cammisecra, announced.

Enel, acting through its subsidiary in Greece, Enel Green Power Hellas SA (EGPH), specializing in renewable energy, started construction of Kafireas wind farm located in the southern part of the Greek island of Evia, in the municipality of Karystos. Upon completion of Kafireas with the total installed capacity of 154 MW, the wind farm will become the largest one in the country.

The volume of Enel’s investments necessary for the construction of this wind farm will be about 300 million euro. The expected commissioning of Kafireas is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.

Kafireas will be capable to generate about 483 GWh per year, what is equivalent to the needs of about 129,000 households, while avoiding the emission of some 433 000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
