Construction of a base and a third training ground for FIFA 2018 World Cup has started in the city of Kaliningrad, Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Kaliningrad region’s government Alexander Rolbinov told R-Sport.
A base for a team participating in the event will be operating near one of the resort hotels in the city of Svetlogorsk over the course of 2018 World Cup.
Three stadiums will be reconstructed in the territory of the city of Kaliningrad. According to a design, these stadiums will be converted into training grounds: “Pioneer”, “Locomotive” and “Selma”. Reconstruction of the first two was launched in 2016. Following 2018 World Cup, this sports infrastructure will be transferred to children’s sports centers.
