Bourbon, a French oil services company, has joined a project of Norwegian Kongsberg and British Automated Ships for the creation of a prototype of its first unmanned vessel capable to perform works in the sea, the company informs.
Hrönn, an unmanned mono-hull vessel, which has been developed by the Automated Ships since 2016, will be used by oil and gas companies when carrying out light work in the sea for scientific purposes and can be used to fight fires on oil platforms.
Bourbon will develop a final design of the vessel, as well as determine the range of functionality of Hrönn. The second phase of the project, which timing is not specified, envisages the search for funding for the construction.
