Facebook to build $250m data centre in New Mexico

Facebook is set to build a new high-tech data centre in New Mexico, US with an investment of approximately $250m, WCN reports today.




The social media giant said that the second building of 460,000 sq ft (42,735 sq.m) will be constructed, in addition to the more than 510,000 sq ft (47,380 sq.m) facility in Los Lunas.

The new facility will be equipped with sustainable energy resources. The data centre is expected to be one of the most advanced and energy efficient facilities in the world.

The investment in the New Mexico data centre is said to total $500m. It is expected to provide for more than 100 full-time jobs.

During the construction phase, the project will support minimum 150 jobs and maximum 1,000 workers onsite at the peak of construction work.
