A large greenhouse complex based on modern technologies will be built in the Leningrad region, in Russia, the regional government said in a statement on Thursday.

The new production facility which is estimated at 2 billion rubles ($35 million), will be located on a land plot of 11 hectares in the Volosovsky District of the Leningrad region. The project is funded by a private investor.

The greenhouses will produce tomatoes, cucumbers, and eggplant, as well as greens. The products are planned to be supplied not only to retail chains of the Leningrad Region and the neighboring city of St. Petersburg but also to Moscow’s stores. Over 240 jobs will be created at the enterprise.

It is worth noting that the agreement on the construction of this greenhouse complex was achieved last year at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.
