Over 11,000 violations of fire safety were detected in Moscow malls

Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations has unveiled the results of inspections conducted by its representatives in trade and shopping centers in Moscow for the compliance with fire safety requirements.




In just a month, Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has discovered over 11,000 cases of fire safety violations, said Ilya Denisov, head of the Ministry’s Moscow office.

As a result, more than 260 organizations and 240 officials were brought to administrative responsibility. Also, the operation of Usachevsky marketplace and three shopping centers Perseus, Silver House and Vector, has been temporarily suspended.

We should remind you that on 25 March 2018, a fire erupted at the Winter Cherry shopping and entertainment center in the Russian city of Kemerovo, with a death toll amounting to at least 60 people. The fire started on the top floor of the 4-story building, forcing people to jump from windows to escape it.
