By the end of 2018, about 2,000 elevators in the Moscow region’s apartment buildings will be replaced by new ones, RIA Novosti news agency reported on Friday with reference to the regional government.
The works will be carried out within the framework of a program for the overhaul of apartment buildings in the Moscow region. The program implementation was launched in 2014 and for the past three years, some 7,700 elevators have already been replaced for new ones.
It should be noted that new rules were adopted by the Moscow regional government, according to which specialists from Russian Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Supervision should check the reliability of elevators as well as the quality of installation works. This innovation allows increasing the level of elevator safety.
In total, almost 45,000 apartment buildings take part in the regional overhaul program.
