On June 15, the Japanese government adopted an economic plan to attract foreign workers, including those working in the field of construction, something that is expected to allow a rapidly aging country to compensate for the shortage of labor.
According to this plan, Japan will simplify the visa regime in such sectors of the economy as nursing, agriculture, transport and construction. In addition, new categories of visas for professionals will be introduced.
Workers will be allowed to stay in the country for up to 5 years as visitors, not immigrants, but they will not be allowed to bring families with them. Given the fact that Japanese culture is a sensitive topic in the country, the government will also introduce high standards in terms of language skills and cultural interaction.
