Today, a monument to Soviet citizens, who died in Nazi Germany in forced labor from inhuman treatment and hunger, has been officially opened.

The monument was erected at the main cemetery of the German city of Frankfurt on the Main, RIA Novosti reported on Friday. As noted, the installation of the monument was the result of a joint work of a cooperation group comprising representatives from Federation Council, the German parliament, the Russian embassy in Germany and the Frankfurt-on-Main economic development department.

The construction that is made in the form of a cross will be located at the burial place of over six hundred citizens of the USSR, with about one hundred children among them. The project was initiated by the local Orthodox community.
