This autumn, Swedish IKEA will open its first design studio in Moscow in the format of street retail, Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday.

“The opening of the design studio at the address: Lazorevy Proezd, 1A, building 3, is expected in the autumn”, the report said. The premises of 180 square meters is located in one of the new business-class buildings in the north of Moscow.

In June, IKEA opened its first store of a new “compact” format in the Moscow shopping center Aviapark. The area of the outlet in the format of a design studio is about 300 square meters, where solutions for the arrangement of the house — kitchens, and wardrobes — are presented.

At that time, IKEA Deputy Director General in Russia, Gerhard Moritz, noted that in case the store proved to be successful, IKEA would open in the coming months five or seven such design studios, primarily in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Before that, IKEA was represented in the Moscow by three large stores operating in a MEGA shopping center on the outer side of the Moscow Ring Road. It is assumed that the new store will expand the customer base of the retailer.
