Insufficient development of the construction industry in the Far East impedes the rapid creation of infrastructure designed for residents of the priority development area (PDA).

This was said by Denis Tikhonov, Director General of the Development Corporation of the Far East, in an interview with RIA Novosti news agency on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum. He has highlighted that in order to solve this problem, it is necessary to pull together efforts with the business community.

“It is necessary to develop the construction industry in the Far East because today we see low competition among contractors”, Tikhonov said, answering the question as to what is necessary for the accelerated infrastructure construction in the priority development area.

“Sometimes it is very difficult to find a contractor for our facilities, taking into account government prices and the scatteredness of these facilities across the Far East, and here we need to join forces with business to develop the construction sector in the Far East so that we can find qualified contractors and execute those significant volumes works that the corporation has in the short term”, Tikhonov explained.
The Fourth Eastern Economic Forum is held on the campus site of the Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island in the Russian city of Vladivostok on September 11-13.
