From 2019 to 2020, some 5,3 billion rubles ($79 million) of budgetary funds are to be allocated for the reconstruction of the infrastructure of Balandino airport in Chelyabinsk.
This is stated in the notes to a draft law “On the federal budget for 2019 and the planning period of 2020 and 2021”. The work is planned within the framework of the city preparation for SCO and BRICS summits, which will be held in Chelyabinsk in 2020.
The first stage of the reconstruction includes the repair of a runway, several taxiways, platforms for aircraft parking and fencing along the perimeter of the airport. The Chelyabinsk region will receive 2,3 billion rubles through the Development Fund in 2019, and another 1 billion rubles in 2020.
For the implementation of the second phase of the airport construction, 1,8 billion rubles are planned to be allocated from the budget in 2019 and 0,2 billion in 2020. The phase involves the renovation of several taxiways, including the main line, and the construction of new aprons.
